The Unexpected

Speaking to another writer friend of mine yesterday (shout out to Trish!) and mentioned that I seemed to have lost my momentum on my  passion piece, a novel I’ve worked on for nearly 12 years.  As insightful as ever, she nailed the reason exactly, and today I return with fresh resolve.

Writing today, a scene came up as I was editing my most recent pages, that was completely unexpected.  It’s the exact middle of the plot, and I had written this section several times before.  Today, though, I was startled and surprised by the new scene that ties everything together.  Past, present and future.  It is the culmination of all the work that’s gone into this story.  I’m both ecstatic and eager now to push forward with it unto the end.  I can see that end now, whereas before I was writing by the seat of my pants.
